Q: What do you get if you cross Kanban and Extreme Programming? A: Xanpan!
The world doesn’t need another software development methodology - there are plenty already! But each team needs to learn and create their own. Xanpan is Allan Kelly's very own hybrid development approach, a mix of Kanban and Extreme Programming, bit more Lean thrown in, seasoned with economics and refined over many teams. Xanpan demonstrates how elements of XP and Kanban can be combined and used as an effective development approach.
The resulting focuses on teams not projects, allows for planned and unplanned work within iterations and levels flow. One team using this approach claims to be able to deliver "to the day."
Xanpan started life simply as adding flow thinking to XP and experimenting. Now it has principles and practices, some of its own but most of which are rooted in Kanban and XP. This presentation will describe the principles and describe the key practices. It will look at how and why these practices support the principles.
"Xanpan - team centric Agile Software Development" is available fro LeanPub.com and Amazon.
Allan Kelly helps companies and teams make software in a better way. Usually this goes by the name of Agile or Lean but ultimately its about making work practices and processes better.
