My name is Catalina, I'm from Romania, I'm a coder... and a girl. My love of programming stems from my love of solving puzzles - be it on a board, in an escape room, coding games or a new feature that needs to be pieced together. This led me to attend the Polytechnic University of Bucharest to study Computer Science and Automation. I've worked as a software developer for the better part of the past 4 years, and currently as part of a French-Romanian team at Axway.
There are more male coders than female ones in the world. I don't know why. There just are. Little over a year ago I joined a French team of 30 or so developers - only two of whom were women. These numbers were surprising to me, coming from a team where there were as many women as there were men, and can be discouraging to girls considering a career in the industry. But they shouldn't be. I'm here to speak about the life of a coder in Romania from a woman's perspective - not that it really changes anything. Coding knows no bounds - nor gender.Voir le talk
