Bart Butler

Bart Butler is lead engineer and CTO at ProtonMail, the world's largest secure email service. Previously, he worked at CERN for four years as a researcher at the Large Hadron Collider. He has a PhD in Particle Physics from Stanford University and was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard.

I will discuss the benefits and challenges of working in the open and federated email space, the technical and usability hurdles surrounding encrypted email, and the importance of security-first development in the age of data breaches.
